Why Link Building

Great Pages Still Need Someone to Vouch for Them

When two pages are equally good, the one that trusted sites link to and talk about usually wins. Links and mentions are how Google, and increasingly AI tools, judge whose word to trust.

Higher rankings

Authority helps your best pages break into the top results for competitive searches.

Real referral traffic

Links on sites your buyers read send visitors, not just ranking signals.

Mentioned by AI

Brands talked about across the web are more likely to be named in AI answers. AI SEO.

Link Quality

What Makes a Link Worth Having

One link from the right site beats a hundred from the wrong ones. Every link I go after must pass three tests.

01

Relevance

The linking site and page are about your industry, topic or area.

What I checkTopic of the site and the page, who reads it, and whether your link genuinely helps that reader.
02

Real Authority

The site is trusted, ranks for real searches and has a real audience.

What I checkOrganic traffic and its trend, who links to them, and signs of selling links. Not just a DA or DR score.
03

Editorial Placement

The link sits naturally inside useful content, where a reader might click it.

What I checkIn-content placement, natural anchor text and a page people actually visit, not a footer or a “links” page.
My Approach

Links I Build, and Links I Never Will

Google’s spam policies are clear about link schemes, and its spam updates keep catching them. Your site isn’t worth the risk. See the September 2026 spam update.

Links I build

Earned on merit, from sites your customers actually read.

  • Coverage from digital PR and journalist requests
  • Editorial articles on relevant industry sites
  • Local news, associations, partners and events
  • Citations of your guides, data and tools
  • Links added to existing brand mentions

Links I never build

Quick fixes that can get a site demoted or penalised.

  • Private blog networks (PBNs) and link farms
  • Bulk “1,000 backlinks” packages
  • Paid links passed off as editorial
  • Spammy directories, comments and forum profiles
  • Link swaps and exact-match anchor stuffing

FAQ

Link Building Questions, Answered

Plain answers to what clients ask most.

The basics

What is link building?

Link building is the work of getting other websites to link to yours. Google treats links from relevant, trusted sites as a sign that your content is worth ranking. Good link building earns those links through useful content, PR and genuine relationships, not by buying them.

Do backlinks still matter in 2026?

Yes. Links are still one of the main ways Google judges authority, especially for competitive searches. What has changed is that quality matters far more than quantity, and spammy links are more likely to be ignored or penalised.

What is white-hat link building?

White-hat link building follows Google’s spam policies. Links are earned editorially: a site chooses to link because your content, data or expertise helps its readers. It excludes link networks, paid links passed off as editorial, and automated spam.

What is digital PR?

Digital PR uses stories, data and expert commentary to earn coverage on news sites and industry publications. It brings high-quality links, brand mentions and referral traffic at the same time.

Quality & safety

Can I just buy backlinks?

Buying links that pass ranking value goes against Google’s spam policies. Paid placements are fine for advertising, but they should be marked as sponsored or nofollow. Cheap bought links are also often ignored by Google, so the money is wasted even when there’s no penalty.

Do you focus on DA or DR scores?

I look at them, but they’re third-party estimates, not Google metrics, and they’re easy to fake. Relevance, real organic traffic and editorial standards matter far more when choosing a site.

Are nofollow links useless?

No. Google treats nofollow as a hint, and those links can still bring traffic, brand awareness and mentions that AI tools pick up. A natural link profile includes both.

Should I disavow bad links?

Usually not. Google ignores most spammy links on its own. Disavowing is mainly for sites with a manual action for unnatural links, or a clear pattern of paid or manipulative links. I review first and only disavow when it’s justified.

Results

How many links do I need?

There’s no fixed number. It depends on how many quality links the sites ranking above you have, and on which pages need authority. The competitor gap analysis shows a realistic target.

How long until links improve rankings?

Google needs to find and re-crawl the linking pages first, so effects usually build over two to six months. Links work best when your technical SEO and content are already solid.

Can you guarantee a number of links per month?

Real editorial links can’t be guaranteed in fixed numbers, because editors decide. Anyone promising a set number of high-quality links each month is usually using a network. I agree a realistic target with you and report every link that goes live.

Do links help with AI search?

Yes. AI answers lean on sources that are trusted and widely cited. Mentions and links on respected sites strengthen how AI tools see your brand. AI SEO & GEO.

Working together

Will I approve the sites before outreach?

Yes. You can see and approve the target list and the main pitches, so nothing goes out in your brand’s name that you’re not happy with.

Do you build links for local businesses?

Yes. Local links from news sites, associations, events, partners and community organisations are some of the most valuable links a local business can earn. How local businesses rank without ads.

Do you work with clients outside India?

Yes. I work with businesses in India and abroad, with outreach focused on publications in your own market.

How much does link building cost?

It depends on your industry, how competitive it is and which methods fit. Send your website on WhatsApp and I’ll share a clear scope and quote after a quick look.
